Biography
Early life
Brittany Sellner, born Brittany Pettibone, was born on 7 October 1992 in California. She is an American writer, online commentator and political activist. Her earliest listed book, the novel "The Steel Inferno", appeared in 2013 from the small publisher Chrysanthalix Press. Her identical twin sister, Nicole, later worked with her on another book.
Career
In 2016 she and her sister wrote the science-fiction and fantasy novel "Hatred Day", published under the pseudonym T.S. Pettibone. Kirkus Reviews included it among its best books of that year. She later published the non-fiction title "What Makes Us Girls: And Why It's All Worth It" in 2018 with Reason Books, and "Patriots Not Welcome" in 2021, again with Chrysanthalix Press.
Sellner began her political activism in 2016 by supporting Donald Trump's presidential campaign. She promoted the Pizzagate conspiracy theory and co-hosted a video podcast, "Virtue of the West", with Tara McCarthy. The following year she was among the speakers at events that led to protests at Berkeley. She travelled to France to support the presidential candidate Marine Le Pen, and to Sicily to join an effort by the group Generation Identity aimed at stopping boats operated by non-governmental organisations that carried migrants from Africa.
In 2018 she was refused entry to the United Kingdom and deported, together with Martin Sellner, an Austrian activist in the Identitarian movement and at that time her boyfriend. The two had come to Britain intending to interview Tommy Robinson. In the same year she and the Canadian commentator Lauren Southern met and interviewed the Russian ultranationalist Aleksandr Dugin. She has also taken part in demonstrations against COVID-19 vaccination and is described as a friend of the Dutch commentator Eva Vlaardingerbroek.
Sellner describes herself as a "Catholic American nationalist" and argues for a full stop to mass immigration. The Anti-Defamation League has characterised her as an activist of the alt-right or alt-lite who spreads white nationalist ideas, and has noted that she contributed to websites including AltRight.com and Red Ice. She has been described as an advocate of anti-feminism and of the Great Replacement conspiracy theory, and as a prominent promoter of the Identitarian movement. She has also promoted the white genocide and George Soros conspiracy theories. At the same time, she presents a traditional-housewife lifestyle on social media platforms such as Instagram, an approach observers have said appeals to a more mainstream audience. As of March 2025 her YouTube channel had about 171,000 subscribers.
Her online activity has been the subject of academic attention. The researcher Ico Maly discussed her as a case study of influencers in the metapolitical New Right in a 2020 journal article, and Eviane Leidig examined her among other women in the far right in a 2023 book on social media influencers and online radicalisation.
Personal life
Sellner is married to Martin Sellner. She had been living in Post Falls, Idaho, and the couple first planned to marry in the United States, but his visa was cancelled after Austrian police raided his home. The couple received backing from the Kootenai County Republican Central Committee, and she moved to Austria in 2019.
