Guitarist

The guitarists in this category span almost a century of music, with birth years from 1925 to 2008. Blues and rock figures such as B. B. King, Jimi Hendrix and Carlos Santana sit next to metal players like James Hetfield and Tom Morello, Japanese guitarists Miyavi and Tomoyasu Hotei, and a younger group who became known online, including Sungha Jung, Tina S and Karolina Protsenko. Film composer Hans Zimmer is listed here as well.

There are over 30 profiles. The United States has the largest share, followed by Japan and Brazil, and about a quarter of the people listed are women. Several guitarists are also filed under Singer, since they front their own bands. Each profile lists age, birthday, height and nationality; for performers who are no longer alive it also gives the date of death.
