Catherine Lobé, who was previously known as Cathy Guetta, is a French businessperson, nightlife organiser and actress born in Dakar, Senegal. She managed nightclubs in Paris, ran venues and restaurants, organised large club events in France and Spain, and appeared in a small number of films.

Early life

Lobé was born in Dakar. Her father served in the army and came from Cameroon, and her mother was French. She spent her childhood partly in Senegal and partly in Toulon, in the south of France. Soon after settling in France she became the manager of a nightclub and began organising parties in Paris.

Career

Her work in nightlife grew into a range of ventures. In 2003 she and her then husband, the DJ and producer David Guetta, opened a venue called Le Sweet Bar. She also ran Le Tanjia, a Moroccan restaurant in Paris, and served as artistic director of the club Les Bains Douches. She became a business partner of Muratt Atik in the Paris nightclub Pink Paradise and in the restaurant La Poope. She has organised events in several places, including Cannes and Marrakesh.

Since 1996 she has put on special nights with David Guetta in Ibiza. Their collaboration led to a series of compilation albums, released as Cathy and David Guetta under the title "Fuck Me I'm Famous". She also created an annual event, Unighted by Cathy Guetta, which brought in well-known international DJs. She hosted it at the Stade de France in Saint-Denis, near Paris, in 2008 and 2009, and in 2010 moved it to the Stade Charles-Ehrmann in Nice. In 2008 she published an autobiography, Bains de nuit, written with Clara Dupont-Monod and issued by Fayard.

Screen work

Her first film role came in 1999 in Quasimodo d'El Paris, directed by Patrick Timsit, in which she played a prostitute. That year she also appeared in Peut-être as a DJ, alongside Romain Duris and Jean-Paul Belmondo. In 2000 she played Mercedes in Jet Set, and in 2001 she took the role of Isabelle in Would I Lie to You 2, known in French as La vérité si je mens! 2, and played Ebène in the television series Sa mère, la pute.

In 2002 she played Fred in the comedy Shooting Stars. Later credits include a part as herself in Nothing But the Beat in 2012 and the role of Cathy in Ibiza in 2019. She has also appeared in music videos, among them "Sexy Chick" by David Guetta and Akon in 2009, and "The Alphabeat" with David Guetta in 2012.

Personal life

Lobé met David Guetta in 1992 and the two married. They have two children, a son and a daughter, born in 2004 and 2007. A Paris court granted their divorce in March 2014, after twenty-two years of marriage.
