Biography
Early life
Emre Mor was born on 24 July 1997 in Brønshøj, a district of Copenhagen, and grew up there. His father is Turkish and his mother comes from North Macedonia. He holds both Danish and Turkish citizenship. As a teenager he played youth football in the Copenhagen area, including for Lyngby, before joining the academy of FC Nordsjælland in January 2015. He also played for Denmark at under-17, under-18 and under-19 level between 2013 and 2015.
Career
Mor made his senior debut for Nordsjælland on 28 November 2015 in the Danish Superliga, coming on late in a defeat to Randers. He started the next league match, and his form earned him a new contract and a place in the first-team squad from January 2016.
In June 2016 Borussia Dortmund confirmed his signing on a five-year contract. He played in the Bundesliga and the Champions League in his one season there, mostly as a substitute, and was part of the squad that won the German Cup in 2016-17. In August 2017 he moved to Celta Vigo in Spain, where he stayed on the books until 2022. Much of that period was spent away from the club on loan. He joined Galatasaray on a season-long loan in July 2019, and in January 2020 he went to Olympiacos for the rest of the 2019-20 season. In August 2021 he returned to Turkey with Fatih Karagümrük, and in March 2022 he scored a hat-trick against Kayserispor.
On 2 July 2022 Mor signed a three-year contract with Fenerbahçe. In January 2024 he rejoined Fatih Karagümrük for the second half of that Süper Lig season. On 20 July 2026, after a trial, he agreed a two-year contract with the Dutch club NEC. He made his debut for them on 4 August in a Champions League qualifier away to his former club Olympiacos, and four days later played his first Eredivisie match. On 11 August he scored his first goal for NEC, an extra-time winner in the return leg against Olympiacos that sent the team through to the play-off round.
International career
Having represented Denmark in youth teams, Mor switched to the Turkish federation in 2016. He earned his first cap for the Turkey national team against Montenegro in Antalya in May 2016, and he went to UEFA Euro 2016 as the third-youngest player in the tournament. He came on as a substitute in the opening match against Croatia, started the final group game against the Czech Republic, and set up the first goal for Burak Yılmaz in that match. He also played for the Turkey under-21 side. In March 2025, after an absence of almost eight years, he was called back to the senior squad for Nations League games against Hungary.
Recognition
Mor's club honours include the DFB-Pokal with Borussia Dortmund in 2016-17, the Turkish Super Cup with Galatasaray in 2019, the Greek league title and Greek Cup with Olympiacos in 2019-20, and the Turkish Cup with Fenerbahçe in 2022-23. He is one of the younger players to have been included in a European Championship squad for Turkey, and his reported Instagram following of around 3.4 million, counted in October 2026, is large for a footballer from the Turkish league.
Personal life
Mor's mother is of Turkish background from North Macedonia, and his father is from Uşak in Turkey. He was raised in Denmark and has said little publicly beyond football in the sources used for this profile.
