Biography

Early life

Eva Lotte Louise Vlaardingerbroek was born on 3 September 1996 in Amsterdam. Her parents both work in the classical music world: her father, Kees Vlaardingerbroek, is a musicologist and former concert director, and her mother was raised Catholic while her father comes from a Protestant background. She has a younger brother, and her paternal grandfather served as a pastor in the Dutch Reformed Church. She grew up in Hilversum.

She studied law at Utrecht University, taking part in its Utrecht Law College honours programme, and spent a period at LMU Munich in Germany. After her bachelor's degree she began a master's programme in the Encyclopedia and Philosophy of Law at Leiden University. Her thesis dealt with the contractualisation of sex in the era of the #MeToo movement, and she completed the degree with honours.

Career

Vlaardingerbroek joined the Dutch party Forum for Democracy (FvD) in 2016. In 2019 she addressed the party congress in a speech against modern feminism, and she completed an internship with the party's group in the European Parliament in Brussels. She then worked in Leiden as a lecturer-researcher and published opinion pieces in the magazine Elsevier Weekblad. In October 2020 she put her university position and doctoral work on hold to concentrate on politics, and on 31 October party leader Thierry Baudet announced her as fifth on the party's candidate list for the House of Representatives. A dispute over Baudet's leadership and over remarks made by members of the party's youth wing escalated in November 2020. On 26 November she said on the morning programme Goedemorgen Nederland that she was siding against Baudet, and on the same day she left the party together with Joost Eerdmans, Annabel Nanninga and Nicki Pouw-Verweij. In April 2023 the newspaper Algemeen Dagblad reported that FvD had threatened her and other former members with large fines for alleged breaches of confidentiality; she was never formally served with such a claim, and she described the threat as an attempt to silence her. In November 2023 she said she would vote for the Party for Freedom in that year's general election.

On 1 January 2022 she began work as a legal adviser at a law firm focused on human rights and civil litigation; the employment ended after a little over four months.

Public roles

Vlaardingerbroek works as a political commentator and activist, and several sources describe her as far-right. She became prominent through the Dutch farmers' protests and her criticism of the government of Prime Minister Mark Rutte. In 2021 she presented the pan-European talk show Let's Talk About It on the YouTube channel of the Swedish outlet Riks for some time. She appeared on Tucker Carlson Tonight in January 2021, and in July 2022 she spoke to Carlson on Fox News about the Dutch nitrogen policy, arguing that the crisis was being used to take land from farmers. A June 2023 report from the Changing Markets Foundation described her statements on nitrogen policy as misinformation. She has appeared as a commentator on GB News and on the YouTube programme of the German journalist Julian Reichelt, and in March 2023 she took part in a farmers' protest in The Hague.

Her speeches have drawn controversy. A 2019 address on feminism provoked sharp criticism from Dutch commentators, and the newspaper De Volkskrant called her a "shield maiden of the far right", a label she has since used for herself. In 2024 she spoke at CPAC, where she said the Great Replacement, which is widely characterised as a conspiracy theory, is real; the recording was taken down by YouTube for violating its hate speech policy. In 2025 she spoke at a London rally organised by Tommy Robinson. In January 2026 the British Home Office revoked her electronic travel authorisation. In May 2026 she and the Austrian activist Martin Sellner launched a petition for a proposed European Citizens' Initiative calling for an end to non-European immigration, and the European Commission said it would amount to discrimination on grounds of race and ethnic origin.

Vlaardingerbroek married Francesco Gargallo di Castel Lentini in 2024. She lives in Amsterdam and has about 1.3 million followers on Instagram as of October 2026.
