Geoff Ramsey American YouTuber From Mobile

Early life

Geoff Ramsey is an American voice actor, producer and internet personality, born on 19 June 1975 in Mobile, Alabama. He grew up mainly in the Mobile area, attended elementary and high school there, and also lived for periods in Pensacola and Jacksonville in Florida, in Beaverton in Oregon, and near New Orleans. In his teenage years he bowled at a semi-professional level. He enlisted in the United States Army before finishing high school and served from 1993 to 1998. During that time he worked as a photojournalist, including a posting in Kuwait, was based at Fort Hood, and studied journalism at Fort Benjamin Harrison.

After leaving the army he worked as a roadie for the band Catch 22 and as a production assistant for View Askew Productions. He then took a job at the technical support company teleNetwork, where he met Burnie Burns and Gus Sorola, two colleagues who would later become his business partners. Before his work with Rooster Teeth began, he co-created the website drunkgamers with Sorola and brought Burns in shortly afterwards to run it.

Career

Ramsey is a co-founder of the production company Rooster Teeth. He is one of the original cast members of the machinima comedy series Red vs. Blue, which ran from 2003 to 2024, and he voices the character Dexter Grif. His other work for the company includes the voice of the Omnipotent Voice in The Strangerhood, a fictionalised version of himself in Captain Dynamic and the Rooster Teeth Shorts, a role as a laboratory rat in Immersion, and the voice of the main antagonist in the first season of the animated series X-Ray and Vav. He has a further credit in the television series The Weird Place, from 2019.

In 2008 he started Achievement Hunter together with his colleague Jack Pattillo. The channel began as a source of video guides to in-game achievements and hidden features, and it later turned to comedic Let's Play videos in which the group play games and talk through them. He also took part in the reality series Happy Hour with Gavin Free and his then wife. In June 2018 Rooster Teeth opened its first pop-up store in Los Angeles, selling shirts, hoodies, bags and pins that he had designed. In September 2019 it was announced that he had been appointed executive creative director of the company.

Beyond the series, Ramsey became a familiar guest at fan conventions such as PAX and appeared on the Rooster Teeth Podcast with Burns, Sorola and Joel Heyman, although he has taken part only occasionally since 2011. He was also one of the hosts of a November 2014 episode of The Patch, the company's gaming podcast.

Personal life

Ramsey was born with the surname Wright and later took the name Ramsey from his stepfather. When he was making the change, a court clerk told him that altering his other names would cost no extra, and he joked by choosing Lazer as his middle name. He married Griffon Ramsey in 2005, and the couple have one child. They announced an amicable divorce, and the marriage is recorded as having ended in 2018.
