Early life

José Ron was born on 6 August 1981 in Guadalajara, Mexico. His full name is Édgar José Ron Vázquez. He left Guadalajara at 18 to train as an actor at the Televisa acting center in Mexico City, the school attached to the broadcaster for which he would later make most of his television work.

Career

Ron's screen career began in 2004 with the telenovela Mujer de madera, a production whose cast included Edith González, Ana Patricia Rojo, Jaime Camil and Gabriel Soto. The following year he appeared in eleven episodes of the series Bajo el mismo techo. In 2006 he joined the third season of the youth telenovela Rebelde, playing a character named Enzo and sharing the screen with Maite Perroni, Dulce María, Anahí, Christian Chávez and Alfonso Herrera. That same year he was one of the leads in Código postal, a role that helped him stand out as an actor. In 2007 he had a recurring part in Muchachitas como tú.

In 2008 he took the male lead in Juro que te amo, opposite Ana Brenda Contreras. By 2010 he was working on several productions in quick succession, among them Los exitosos Pérez, Locas de amor and Cuando me enamoro, and his work in that period brought him a number of recognitions. Cuando me enamoro is the first title in the screen credits attached to his profile and is one of the two works he is most often associated with, along with the film A la mala.

He worked with Ana Brenda Contreras again in 2011 in La que no podía amar. In 2012 he starred in La mujer del Vendaval, sharing credits with Ariadne Díaz and Javier Jattin. In 2014 he played the male lead beside Livia Brito in Muchacha italiana viene a casarse, a remake of a Mexican telenovela first made in 1971. Its success in Mexico led the producers to extend it to 176 episodes.

2015 was a busy year. Ron made his cinema debut in A la mala, a film starring Mauricio Ochmann and Aislinn Derbez, and he was given the lead role in Simplemente María, an adaptation of a telenovela first broadcast in 1989. Producer Ignacio Sada offered him the part, and his co-stars in that series included Claudia Álvarez and Ferdinando Valencia. Later television work includes Enamorándome de Ramón in 2017 and Te doy la vida in 2020. His latest credit on record is Papás por conveniencia, a television series from 2024.
