Early life

Maia Reficco was born on 14 July 2000 in Boston, Massachusetts. When she was four, her family, who are of Argentine origin, moved to Buenos Aires, and she is described as both American and Argentine. Her interest in music appeared early. She sang and learned to play the guitar, piano, saxophone and ukulele, and she also spent eleven years training in acrobatics. Her mother is a singer and singing teacher who directs her own centre for vocal art, and her father teaches at the University of the Andes in Bogotá.

At fifteen she travelled to Los Angeles, where she stayed with Claudia Brant and studied singing with the vocal coach Eric Vetro, who has worked with artists such as Ariana Grande, Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendes. She also took part in a five-week programme at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, where she earned a scholarship.

Career

Her path into acting began on social media. Brant sent covers that Reficco had posted on Instagram to the producers of the Nickelodeon Latin America series Kally's Mashup, and the production invited her to audition. She sang Ariana Grande's "Dangerous Woman" for the audition and won the lead role of Kally Ponce. The series, which premiered in 2017, is the earliest credit on record for her. She signed with Deep Well Records and travelled to Miami to record music for the show.

On 19 October 2017 she appeared for the first time at the Kids' Choice Awards Argentina, presenting the series' theme song, "Key of Life". In August 2018 she performed at the Kids' Choice Awards Mexico, singing "World's Collide" and "Unísono" with the cast, and she sang the same songs again at the Argentine ceremony that year. In an interview with Billboard Argentina in August 2018 she confirmed that she was preparing solo material with a major label, with a debut album planned in pop and R&B and entirely in English. Her later releases have appeared through Sony Music Latin. In November 2018 she also took part in the Meus Prêmios Nick ceremony, again performing songs from the series.

The early 2020s widened her profile. In 2022 she appeared in the Netflix film Do Revenge, and in the same year she starred as Noa Olivar in Pretty Little Liars, an HBO Max horror thriller series that forms the fourth part of its franchise. She went on to work on the film One Fast Move (2024) and La Dolce Villa (2025). In 2024 she made her Broadway debut, playing Eurydice in Hadestown opposite Jordan Fisher. Her most recent listed film is The Last Sunrise (2026), in which she has the second billing.

Altogether, her filmography on record covers four films and two television series between 2017 and 2026. Records list her as both an actress and a singer, and her YouTube channel had 263,000 subscribers in July 2025.
