The Godfather Part II is a 1974 film directed by Francis Ford Coppola. It stars Al Pacino, Robert Duvall, Diane Keaton and others.

Synopsis

The Godfather Part II is a 1974 crime drama directed by Francis Ford Coppola, who co-wrote the screenplay with Mario Puzo. It continues the story of the Corleone family from the 1972 film and also reaches back in time, so it works as both a sequel and a prequel.

Two storylines run side by side. In 1958, Michael Corleone, played by Al Pacino, is the head of the family. He has moved its business toward Nevada and is looking at new ventures, including a casino. Offers of partnership arrive from other powerful figures, while tensions inside his own organization grow, and Michael becomes more guarded about whom he can rely on. Robert Duvall appears as Tom Hagen, Diane Keaton as Kay, Talia Shire as Connie and John Cazale as Fredo.

The other storyline goes back to the early twentieth century. Young Vito Andolini leaves Sicily as a child and arrives in New York, where he is recorded as Vito Corleone. Robert De Niro plays Vito as a man, following him through the immigrant streets of Little Italy as he takes his first steps toward the position he will later hold.
