Vivian Wilson American Model Born 2004 in Los Angeles

Early life

Vivian Jenna Wilson was born on 17 April 2004 in Los Angeles, California. Wilson is the eldest daughter of the businessman Elon Musk and the Canadian author Justine Musk, who was born Justine Wilson. Through Justine, Wilson holds Canadian citizenship. Wilson's parents divorced in 2008 and agreed to share custody of the children.

Wilson attended Astra Nova School, finishing there in 2018, and later the Crossroads School for Arts and Sciences in Santa Monica. Wilson has four full siblings, a twin brother named Griffin and three younger brothers who are triplets, Kai, Saxon and Damian. There are also at least nine half-siblings on the father's side. Wilson and Justine Musk are on good terms.

In 2020 Wilson announced publicly, in a post on Instagram, that Wilson is a transgender woman. In June 2022, at the age of 18, Wilson asked the Los Angeles County Superior Court to change both name and gender on the birth certificate, and a California judge approved the request. The new legal surname is the one Justine Musk was born with. In the petition, Wilson said there was no wish to be related to Elon Musk in any way. Wilson has also described being bisexual. Wilson has been financially independent from Elon Musk since 2020.

Career

Before gaining public attention, Wilson hoped to work as a translator and was studying French, Spanish and Japanese. Wilson spent a year and a half at the Tokyo campus of Temple University in Japan, then left the program and returned to Los Angeles in May 2025 to model. By September of that year Wilson had signed with the talent agency CAA. Wilson has also considered other paths, among them streaming on Twitch.

In March 2025 Wilson appeared on the cover of Teen Vogue, which described Wilson as very active online. In September 2025 Wilson made a debut on the runway at New York Fashion Week. In 2026 Wilson created a line of merchandise carrying the phrase "evil woke mind virus," a reference to earlier remarks by Elon Musk, with part of the profits donated to the Trevor Project, an organization that supports LGBTQ youth.

Public roles

Wilson speaks openly about politics and about transgender issues, saying in the Teen Vogue interview that there is an obligation to talk about them. Wilson describes personal politics as leftist while rejecting the label Marxist, and has voiced support for universal basic income, health care, a narrower gap in wealth, and access to food, water and shelter as human rights. Asked whether the upbringing had shaped these views, Wilson pointed to seeing extravagant wealth close up while living in Los Angeles alongside widespread homelessness. After the 2024 United States presidential election, Wilson said there was an intention to leave the country in the future.

Wilson has criticized Elon Musk's public actions and his views on transgender rights. Wilson has also objected to the portrayal in Walter Isaacson's biography of Elon Musk, which called Wilson by a different name, and has described parts of the book as inaccurate and unfair. Isaacson's account linked Musk's political shift to the relationship with Wilson, a link Wilson disputes. Musk has attributed the strained relationship to what he called neo-Marxist influences, a description Wilson rejects. Grimes, a former partner of Musk, has publicly supported Wilson.
