Alejo Igoa Chinese YouTuber Born 1996 in Posadas

Early life

Alejo Igoa was born on 23 August 1996 in Posadas, in the province of Misiones. He grew up in a middle-class household in Concepcion de la Sierra. By his own account he was an introverted child who was bullied at school, and the time he spent alone led him to teach himself video editing, design and other software.

After school he enrolled in architecture at the National University of Rosario. He stayed for a year and then left without finishing the degree. He looked for work to pay his living costs but did not receive any offers.

Career

Igoa moved to Buenos Aires, where he used his savings to rent a small studio apartment for two months. He created his YouTube channel in 2014 and posted his first video, titled Solo Se Vos Mismo, which can be translated as "Just Be Yourself". He had received a camera as a birthday present from his parents. He has said he was inspired by YouTubers from other countries, especially from the United States.

In April 2015 he took part in the first edition of the Club Media Fest in Buenos Aires. By then his channel had reached 200,000 subscribers. Later that year the Israeli Ministry of Tourism sponsored a week-long trip for him to Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, intended to promote tourism to the country.

In 2016 he was nominated in the Digital Revelation category at the Nickelodeon Argentina Kids' Choice Awards and made a short appearance on the Nickelodeon series Kally's Mashup. At the end of 2017 he moved to Mexico City for five months, with the aim of widening his international audience.

His audience grew over the following years. In December 2023 he passed 30 million subscribers. In 2025 he became the most-subscribed Spanish-speaking YouTuber, a position the channel still held in May 2026, when it ranked among the most-subscribed channels in the world.

In 2026 he performed a live production, El Show de Alejo Igoa, at the Movistar Arena in Buenos Aires. More than 70,000 people attended its seven sold-out performances. During one of the shows he was presented with two Guinness World Records, one for the most subscribers for a Spanish-language channel on YouTube and one for the most subscribers for a Spanish-language entertainment channel.

Recognition

At the Martin Fierro Awards in 2019, Igoa won in the Best YouTuber of the Year category, and he won the same category again at the 2023 ceremony. In 2022 he received YouTube's Diamond Play Button and was given the Digital Leader award at the Eliot Awards. In 2026 Guinness World Records recognized him with the two records for Spanish-language channels described above. His earlier nomination at the Nickelodeon Argentina Kids' Choice Awards, in the Digital Revelation category, dates from 2016.
