Ariadna Gutiérrez Colombian Actress From Sincelejo

Early life

Ariadna María Gutiérrez Arévalo was born on 25 December 1993 in Sincelejo, in the Colombian department of Sucre. When she was seven months old her parents relocated to Barranquilla, and she grew up there, attending the German School of Barranquilla. She is a cousin of Paulina Vega, who won Miss Colombia in 2013 and Miss Universe in 2014. Gutiérrez is Colombian and works as a model and actress, and her height is listed as 178 centimetres.

Career

Gutiérrez entered the Colombian pageant circuit in 2014. She first won the Miss Sucre title and then represented the Sucre Department at Miss Colombia 2014. The contest, the 80th edition, was held in Cartagena de Indias on 17 November 2014. Her victory was the first for the department in the history of the competition. On 16 November 2015 she passed the crown to her successor, Andrea Tovar.

As Miss Colombia she went on to compete for her country at the 64th Miss Universe pageant, held on 20 December 2015. During the closing ceremony the host, Steve Harvey, announced her as the winner. He then corrected himself on stage, explaining that he had misread the card, and the title went to Pia Wurtzbach of the Philippines, with Gutiérrez placed as first runner-up. Had the original announcement stood, Colombia would have won two years in a row, as Paulina Vega had taken the title the year before. Gutiérrez later spoke about the episode in public and said that the television producers had handled the error poorly.

After her pageant years she moved into acting. Her first screen credit and the work she is best known for is the 2017 film xXx: Return of Xander Cage, in which she appeared alongside Vin Diesel. It is her only listed film credit, and the film has an entry in a large number of language editions of Wikipedia, which reflects its international reach. She also took part in the first American season of the reality series Celebrity Big Brother, where she was evicted on the finale night and finished in a tie for third place with the singer Mark McGrath.

She continues to work as a professional model. Her YouTube channel had about 175,000 subscribers when counted in March 2025. Her appearance on the Miss Universe stage was later referenced in popular culture, when the performer James Leyva, using the stage name Valentina, impersonated her in an episode of the ninth season of RuPaul's Drag Race.

Recognition

Gutiérrez's best known titles come from pageantry. She was named Miss Sucre and Miss Colombia in 2014, and in 2015 she was first runner-up at Miss Universe.

Personal life

Her family connection to Paulina Vega is the most widely noted detail of her personal life; the two are cousins.
