Biography
Early life
Bresh, whose full name is Andrea Emanuele Brasi, was born on 28 June 1996 in Lavagna, on the Ligurian coast of Italy. He grew up in Bogliasco, a small municipality in the Province of Genoa, and began making music there at around fifteen. His first releases came early: in 2012 he put out a mixtape called Cambiamenti together with G Pillola, who was then performing as Gughi P, and a second project, Cosa vogliamo fare, followed in 2013. Both tapes carried guest appearances from young local artists, among them Izi, Vaz Tè, Tedua, Dala Pai Pai and Nader Shah, and several of those names stayed in his circle in later years.
When his school studies ended, at nineteen, he moved to Milan with friends and fellow musicians Rkomi, Tedua and Sonny Willa. In those years he wrote and released a run of singles, including "Baghera", "Gaston", "Prestigio", "Snake", "Astronauti", "Ande" and "Gazza ladra". The video for "Il bar dei miei" appeared in August 2017 through the label Thaurus.
Career
After a quiet stretch, Bresh returned in 2019 as a guest on Vaz Tè's "Pesche e vino", a track that also featured Gianni Bismark and Sick Luke. In 2020 he issued "No Problem", "Oblò" with Rkomi and "Team" with Vaz Tè, then released his first studio album, Che io mi aiuti, on 14 February 2020 through Epic Records and Sony Music. A reissue in July of that year added new songs with Ketama126, Giaime, Disme and Vaz Tè, and the album was certified gold in Italy by FIMI.
His single "Angelina Jolie", released in early 2021, became his breakthrough and was certified triple platinum in Italy; he has since sold more than one million singles in the country. "Caffè" and "Andrea" came next as part of the lead-up to his second album, Oro blu, which reached the top of the Italian albums chart. In 2022 he appeared in Claudio Cabona's documentary La nuova scuola genovese, speaking about the Genoese rap movement alongside Tedua, Izi and Vaz Tè, and in late June he played the Goa-Boa festival for the second time.
The year 2023 brought his strongest chart run. "Guasto d'amore", released on 27 January, is about his devotion to the football club Genoa and was taken up as a chant by the team's supporters. In May he was a featured guest on Ernia's "Parafulmini", with Fabri Fibra also on the track, and on 29 September he released "Nightmares" with Pinguini Tattici Nucleari. Both "Guasto d'amore" and "Nightmares" reached number one on the Italian singles chart. In April 2024 he and Tedua appeared on Tony Effe's "Dopo le 4", which peaked at number two. "Torcida", released on 10 May 2024, takes its title from the Brazilian Portuguese word for passionate football fans and deals with the wish to break out of repeating the same mistakes.
In December 2024 he was named among the performers at the Sanremo Music Festival 2025, where "La tana del granchio" placed eleventh. He announced the album Mediterraneo on 21 May 2025 and released it on 6 June; "Dai che fai" was issued as its sixth single on 12 September. Further singles followed into 2026, including "Serenamente".
His music is usually classed as rap, with lyrics that often turn to social themes and to episodes from his own life, as in "Andrea". Writers have compared his singer-songwriter approach to that of Fabrizio De André, an artist he listened to from childhood. He is also a member of Drilliguria, a collective of Ligurian rappers, and of the Milan group Zona4gang.
Recognition
In August 2023 Bresh received the Lunezia Prize for the musical and lyrical quality of "Altamente mia". Two number-one singles in a single year and a place at the Sanremo festival mark the other high points of his career so far.
