Briana White American Actress Born 1992 in Orange County

Early life

Briana White was born on 28 April 1992 in Orange County, California, and grew up there. She became interested in the performing arts around the age of seven. Her first stage experience came through community theatre in her hometown, where she acted in annual productions, worked backstage and, while still in high school, directed several one-act plays.

She went on to study at New York University, graduating in May 2013 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in theatre. Away from the stage, her taste in video games leaned toward Nintendo titles, a habit she shared with her mother, who also played them.

Career

White's early credits were in live-action work. In 2014 she played Aurora in the "Snow White vs. Elsa" episode of the web series Princess Rap Battle. She then took a leading role in the 2015 independent horror film Occupants, directed by Russ Emanuel, and a supporting part in the 2016 comedy Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping. Her television work includes the role of Jessica Townsend in an episode of Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders.

Alongside acting, she built an online presence as a streamer and video creator. For several years before she worked in voice acting she posted content on YouTube and Twitch under the name Strange Rebel Gaming. Her YouTube channel had around 218,000 subscribers when counted in September 2025.

Her best-known work began in 2019, when she was cast in her first voice acting role as Aerith Gainsborough for the video game Final Fantasy VII Remake, which was released in 2020. She returned to the character in Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion in 2022 and again in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth in 2024. Reviews of her first performance as Aerith were highly favourable. White has also played Rebirth on her own streams, bringing her work as the character together with her activity as a content creator.

Recognition

In 2024 White won the Golden Joystick Award for Best Supporting Performer for playing Aerith in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. The same year she received a nomination for Best Performance at The Game Awards for that role. Across these records she has one win and two nominations in total, with the Best Supporting Performer category at the Golden Joystick Awards listed twice among them.

Aerith Gainsborough remains the character most closely tied to her name in professional listings, and her recognition to date has come mainly from that performance across the remake series.
