Early life

Dominic Sandoval was born on 15 October 1985 in Roseville, California, to Filipino American parents. His stepfather adopted him when he was two, but paperwork was mixed up and his name was recorded incorrectly; he changed it to its current form at 16. He grew up in Roseville and graduated from Woodcreek High School in 2003.

He started breakdancing at 13 and performed at NBA and WNBA games. In 2005 he won the Evolution 2 competition in Orlando, Florida, with his breaking crew, Flexible Flav. He has said that he wanted to learn every dance style and be known as a dancer rather than only as a breaker.
