Dhvani Bhanushali Indian Singer Born 1998 in Mumbai

Early life

Dhvani Bhanushali was born on 22 March 1998 in Mumbai, into a Gujarati family. She studied at the University of Mumbai, where she completed a Bachelor of Commerce in September 2019, and she also took a business management and entrepreneurship programme at the Indian School of Management and Entrepreneurship in the city.

Career

Bhanushali began her music career in 2017 with an acoustic version of "Humsafar", a song from the film Badrinath Ki Dulhania. Over the following period she recorded further cover and reprise versions, among them "Tere Mere Reprise" from the film Chef and "Veere" from Veere Di Wedding. Her first song for a feature film was "Ishtehaar", from Welcome to New York in 2018, which she sang with Rahat Fateh Ali Khan.

The same year she appeared in the music video for "Ishare Tere", a single by Guru Randhawa, and she performed "Dilbar" for the film Satyameva Jayate alongside Neha Kakkar. "Dilbar" is described as the first Hindi-language song to reach the top ten of a Billboard chart. She also made a carpool-style mashup of "Gulabi Aankhen" and "Shape of You", sang "Duniya" from the film Luka Chuppi with the singer Akhil, and recorded "Laila" for the film Notebook.

Her breakthrough as a solo artist came in 2019 with the single "Vaaste", which she recorded with Nikhil D'Souza and in whose video she appears together with the actor Siddharth Gupta. The video passed two billion views on YouTube by June 2020, and reports describe her as the youngest and fastest artist to reach that figure. Another 2019 single, "Main Teri Hoon", followed, as did "Leja Re".

Later film and single releases include "Dariyaganj" with Arijit Singh for Jai Mummy Di, "Nachi Nachi" for Street Dancer 3D with Neeti Mohan and Millind Gaba, and "Baby Girl" with Guru Randhawa. During the lockdown in India in 2020 she sang "Jeetenge Hum" and "Gallan Goriyan", and she closed the year with "Nayan", recorded with Jubin Nautiyal. In March 2021 she put out "Radha" on her birthday, and for Navaratri that year she released a Gujarati song, "Mehendi". "Mera Yaar" arrived on 1 December 2021. A later song, "Candy", was made with the composer Yuvan Shankar Raja and issued through the Hitz Music channel on YouTube.

Bhanushali has described the composer Tanishk Bagchi as her mentor, saying that he guided her closely and that much of her career owes to him.

Public roles

Besides recording, she has appeared on screen in the videos for her own releases, such as "Vaaste". Her YouTube channel had about 3.5 million subscribers when last counted in April 2025, and her Instagram account has more than seven million followers.
