Early life

Maryjun Takahashi (高橋 メアリージュン) was born on 8 November 1987 in Ōtsu, Shiga Prefecture, Japan. Her mother is Filipino and her father is Japanese. Her career began in fashion modelling, and she moved into acting later.

Career

Takahashi started modelling in August 2003 after winning a beauty contest, the Yokohama Shonan Audition 2003. In April 2004 she signed with the women's fashion magazine CanCam, and she remained one of its exclusive models until 2012. From 2007 she also appeared on music and variety programmes on television, as well as in commercials for brands that included the fashion label Cecil McBee, Kyocera, Morinaga and Google.

She was active on the runway circuit as well, taking part in many editions of Tokyo Girls Collection between 2007 and 2012 and in Girls Award shows from 2010. After her exclusive CanCam contract ended she began appearing in other magazines, including Classy, Oggi and Gina, and she became a regular model for Classy in 2012.

Her acting credits begin with the television drama Jun and Ai (2012), in which she shared scenes with Mokomichi Hayami. She went on to appear in the drama Rich Man, Poor Woman (2013) and in an instalment of the police series Keishichō Sōsa Ikka 9 Gakari in 2013. In 2014 she played Yumi Komagata in Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Inferno and in Rurouni Kenshin: The Legend Ends, the two films that are best documented among her credits. The director Keishi Ōtomo is credited on two of the titles on her record. Other films from that period include Ushijima the Loan Shark 2 (2014), in which she played Akane Saihara, a part she repeated in later instalments of the series, as well as Kikaider Reboot (2014), Heroine Shikkaku (2015) and Haunted Campus (2016).

Takahashi appeared in the film Stolen Identity in 2018. On television she played Kaoru Suyama in My Housekeeper Nagisa-san (2020), appeared in Towako Omameda and Her Three Ex-husbands (2021) as Karen Matsubayashi, and took part in My Family (2022) and A Town Without Seasons (2023). In 2024 she played Inkarmat in the series Golden Kamuy: The Hunt of Prisoners in Hokkaido, and she is credited as Inkarmat again in the film Golden Kamuy: The Abashiri Prison Raid, listed for 2026. Her most recent television credit in the listing is Great Teacher Onizuka (2026).
