Rayver Cruz Filipino Actor Born 1989 in the Philippines

Early life

Raymond Oliver Cruz Ilustre was born on 20 July 1989 in the Philippines and works under the screen name Rayver Cruz. He belongs to the Cruz family, a well-known line in Philippine entertainment. His cousins include Sheryl Cruz, Sunshine Cruz, Geneva Cruz and Donna Cruz, and his brothers are Rodjun Cruz and Omar Cruz-Ilustre.

He completed Grade 6 at Saint Mark's Institute in Las Piñas. In 2010 he graduated from Saint Francis of Assisi College, also in Las Piñas, with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration.

Career

Cruz began in television as a child. He and his brother Rodjun first hosted a children's magazine programme, 5 and Up, on ABC, a channel that is now TV5. In 1994 he moved to GMA Network and appeared as a child actor in the comedy show Kiss Muna. In 2002 he moved to ABS-CBN, where he became one of the network's contract talents before joining its Star Magic roster.

His first lead role in a primetime series was as Red in Spirits, opposite Maja Salvador. The structured records list Spirits as his earliest credit, but they and the Wikipedia article disagree on the year, so no year is given here. In 2007 he took another lead as Mythos in the primetime show Rounin. The same year he appeared in the film Happy Hearts, and he was part of the group performance of "Kembot" with ASAP.

The 2010s brought several film credits. Cinco, from 2010, is the title most associated with him in the records, and he is billed sixth in its cast. In 2010 he also appeared in Shake, Rattle and Roll 12, followed by A Mother's Story in 2011. He is credited in The Portrait in 2017.

On 14 June 2018 he left Star Magic, although he stayed with Bagani, his last project at ABS-CBN. After eighteen years away, he went back to GMA Network, signing a contract there on 6 September 2018. Alongside acting and dancing, he has built a singing and hosting career. He hosted programmes for GMA including the former variety show Studio 7, and he co-hosted the singing competition The Clash with Julie Anne San Jose. He is also part of the variety show All-Out Sundays.

His later screen work includes the 2023 film The Cheating Game and the 2024 series Asawa ng Asawa Ko, which is his most recent credit on record. Another series, Pag-ibig Na Kaya?, is listed without a year. In total, nine credits are documented for him, made up of six films and three television series.

His recordings include the singles "Bitaw" in 2016 and "Pag-Ibig na Kaya" in 2023, the latter with Julie Anne San Jose. A further single, "Dust of the Universe", is dated 2026.

No awards or nominations are listed for Cruz in the records used for this profile, although the Wikipedia article includes an accolades section. His standing comes mostly from his long television career and his place in a family known across Philippine entertainment.
