Early life

Sundeep Kishan Naidu was born on 7 May 1987 in Madras, now Chennai, into a Telugu family. He is a nephew of the cinematographers Chota K. Naidu and Shyam K. Naidu. His education took place at Osmania University and the University of Hyderabad, and in 2008 he moved to Hyderabad to look for work in films.

Career

Kishan worked for a year as an assistant director to Gautham Vasudev Menon before he took up acting. He appeared in Sneha Geetham, and the same year, 2010, made his official debut in Prasthanam. The director Deva Katta introduced him to Raj Nidimoru and Krishna D.K., which led to his casting in Shor in the City, his first Hindi-language film. Yaaruda Mahesh followed in 2013; he has said that he does not plan to make more films of that type, although he has been asked about a sequel.

His main early breakthrough came in 2013 with Venkatadri Express, in which he starred opposite Rakul Preet Singh, and which was a commercial success. Gundello Godari, also released that year, also did well at the box office and brought him a nomination for the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor in Telugu. Several of his next releases were poorly received.

The year 2017 marked a turn. In Maanagaram, a box office success, he played a hard-edged young man opposite Regina Cassandra; the two appear together in several of his films, including Nakshatram (2017) and Routine Love Story (2012). In Maayavan, also from 2017, he played a crime inspector opposite Lavanya Tripathi, and the film did moderately well. He also appeared in C/o Surya that year and in Next Enti in 2018.

Kishan then moved into production, with Ninu Veedani Needanu Nene (2019) and A1 Express (2021). Both did reasonably at the box office. He also took on a role in the web series The Family Man in 2019, and his performance in the spy thriller was well received. In 2021 he also had success with Gully Rowdy. The Telugu action thriller Michael followed in 2023.

He had three releases in 2024. In Captain Miller he played a tribal character alongside Dhanush, and the film earned a positive response and did well commercially. In Ooru Peru Bhairavakona he played a stunt double who ends up in a baffling situation. In Raayan, in which he is billed fourth, he played Muthuvelraayan, an alcoholic who turns against his brother, played by Dhanush. Raayan was a box office success, became the highest-grossing Tamil film of the year and is his highest-grossing film. In 2025 he appeared in Mazaka as Krishna, the son of the character played by Rao Ramesh; that film did not succeed commercially.

In all he has 23 films on record between 2010 and 2025, working mainly in Telugu and Tamil cinema.

Other work

Away from acting, Kishan owns a restaurant chain in Hyderabad named Vivaha Bhojanambhu, and he has opened a salon, Express Unisex, in Vijayawada.
